Linux 101: Introduction to Linux for Beginners

Language: en id

This series is specifically designed to help you understand the fundamentals of Linux easily, from the most basic concepts to daily usage. Here, you will be guided step by step to get to know Linux, the installation process, and various tips to stay productive while using popular desktop distributions such as Ubuntu and Fedora.

All materials and screenshots in this series use two reference distros: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS "Resolute Raccoon" and Fedora Workstation 44. Both are the latest stable releases at the time of writing, and coincidentally both have fully switched to GNOME 50 with a Wayland-only session (X11 support has been removed from the GNOME session). If you are using other versions, most concepts still apply, but the interface appearance may differ slightly.

What Do You Need to Prepare?

You do not need any prior technical experience to follow this series. All you need is a computer with standard specifications (8 GB or more of RAM is recommended for a comfortable virtual machine experience), an internet connection to download ISOs, and a willingness to try each step discussed. All practical exercises in the early part of the series are done via a virtual machine, so it is safe to try without changing your main operating system.
